Our mighty faction now has three members. Mouhahahahaha! We might need to discuss the organization and structure of BOW in Nexus Wars, but so far I doubt we need to agree on much more than the ranks of the faction. As per now, we have the four default ranks: Soldier, Sergeant, Lieutenant and Leader. I am Leader simply because I created the faction, and I have promoted Skippy Joe because he's the only original BOW member active on this forum, and because I find it makes sense that the leaders are at the same time mods. Further, I picture the future organization like this: At first, most members are Soldiers (or cooler-named equivalents) with one of the Leaders as Commander. When numbers grow, those Soldiers who are willing and worthy, get promoted to Sergeants and are given responsibility of a small squad of Soldiers. Their responsibility will mostly be distributing orders, I guess, and maybe oversee that the Soldiers "do what they're told". And when the numbers grow even more, and controlling the faction becomes a tiresome bureaucracy, Lieutenants will be made to release the Leaders from all the stress. Of course, there is a good possibilty that our faction'll never become that big, but one can always hope. Does ayone have better names for the ranks? Something which relates to Bastards of War? Seriously, speak your mind if you have any ideas; I get paranoid when I think I'm in charge of anything.

I have set the Divine Army and the Infernal Horde as friendly and hostile respectively, so if you start seeing ble and red names around, this is the likely reason. More unlikely reasons are computer disfunction and slight madness. When it comes to further faction politics, I suggest that we change our stance to other factions as we encounter them faction-to-faction. One alternative is setting all good factions as friendly and all evil ones as hostile, but this takes quite a bit more work if we are to be consistent (factions come and go). Input welcome.

Recruitment outside of these forums will have to wait until some of us get to level 10, at the very least. But once we do that, I suggest we do so, since we need it if we want a chance to get our group into the mix.

If we start recruiting outside the forum, I think we might need to complete the faction "flavourwise", I mean faction goals, faction rules if any and stuff like that. We who have been in BOW for a while pretty much know what the group is about, but any newcomers may not.
As another issue, how about using the Ragged Philantropists' Fortress as a kind of base until we become more organized? The RP is a group which focus on helping other good characters by giving them shelter and some times items. They have a gunshop, a pharmacy and a factory there, and we're much safer there than on the street. It can also help us coordinate efforts by trading items. For instance, I can repair stuff for you, and I have a lot of ammo for those who use fire-arms as main weapon (I found them while searching the gunshop for a suite of armour).

I know I'm not a part of BOW in the nexus (yet) but these are my thoughts on the matter: The RP fortress is not nearly as safe as it sounds, unless you're actually in their main stronghold. My paladin has spent quite a bit of time there trying to level up by crafting and has been killed many, many times by intruding evil characters. They regularly take down the wards, or simply raise their morality briefly to slip through undetected and then go on a killing spree with the many guaranteed targets that they know are inside the walls. If you don't have a faction stronghold at the minute then it is probably (bar complete isolation in the middle of nowhere in purg) your best bet for making it through the night and staying relatively coordinated, just realise that safety is in no way certain. If you decide to stay here just be careful, don't just stand out in the open waiting to get shot/stabbed/burned/eaten, etc, etc, find a nice little place and make sure you're hidden at least. Although in my experiance the Raggeds are a fun group to hang around with, I've had some good times hiding out in there. Good luck with whatever you choose to do and have fun.

The RP fortress is very safe if your a tier 1 as most of the evils able of getting into the fort will not gain XP from attacking you. after you hit tier 2 you are a taget for higher level evils and the safety of the RP fortress decreases greatly.

If I knew where they were, I'd go without delay. I must have seen something shiney while posting, as I surely intended to include the coordinates of the Fortress. It's the 3x3 area around [3,30], which is their stronghold. They have barricades around it and keep it warded against Evil. I share the view of Morrolan; I leveled a good character through Tier 1, and it made great difference in my death rate when I hung out in the Fortress, though hunting was a bit worse, as there are many to the evil bone in that area. I still died from time to time, but it was usually from Area of Effect attacks when evil guys wanted to make serious damage. I haven't tried staying there as Tier 2 though, but when most of us get there, we might have a stronghold of our own.

the 1.4 upgrades to Nexus Wars have made it uber difficult for new factions such as ourselves to get started. In order to get a stronghold we need to be level 4. we need to capture the standards of other factions to do this, are there any suggestions as to how we may do this?

Well, we obviously need more members before we can take out an enemy stronghold (unless we hire some mercenaries to help us, but I find this a bit unBOWish), and since recruitment on this forum has been slightly slim, we need to open up for nonBOWers. Before we do this, I feel we need to have a few more battleready Tier 2s; it would be a bit odd if we had a Tier 3 join us and suddenly stand for more than half the faction's firepower.
Also, I feel we need to complete the faction structure- and background-wise in order to make sure that those who join us, knows what they're getting into. I'll start working on a wiki page and have you critcize it when it's starting to take form.

I am still level 7, and it will take me some work to get to the next level in that regard.

I added the faction template and a link to the forum to the WIKI.

I've made a draft for our faction page. Sorry it took so long; Internet has been down the last week. I also made new rank names, which led to everyone getting promoted. The thought is to have new members start as privilege-less recruits and promote those who show enough dedication to coordinate stuff. Basically, it should be enough to post on the forum or do things like repair other members' equipment to be promoted. Also, it gives us somewhere to place any members should they get an evil alignment. The Champion rank is reserved for when the faction becomes larger and we might need people to organize infusers, strike teams and stuff like that. And again, speak up if there's anything you want to have changed.

On a more or less peculiar note, CHAOS CHAOS CHAOS have set set their policy towards us as friendly. I have no idea why, but CCC are known to be rather random.
It seems like we have stalled a bit. Does anyone have any objections towards us changing to open? Or maybe change to allow invite requests and start active recruitment?

Yay! CCC set us to friendly. i ran into some of there members the other day and decided to have some RPing fun. guess they enjoyed it.
I got no problem with going open i don't expect a rush of people flooding in just yet... but if we can make a name for ourselves i some way?
