I'm kind of resolving my own problem. I'm very close to being able to buy combat skills which I really prefer to develop equally with the healing. I do have a question... is firearms training or hand-to-hand combat best if your fighting with an ax?
My trick is that I heal a zombie then swing at him over and over and over until I take a few of my HP back. If he fights back too much I duck into a building and go looking for a different zombie. Actually works quite well. Takes me about 18-20 AP for 10 XP (5 for healing and 5 for hits) once I have some real hit percentage it will get faster. I got free running first because it saves me AP in finding a lone zed somewhere to screw with.

Igor, if you are fighting with an ax, then get hand to hand combat. (This gives you a 10% bonus to your attack and allows you to take Axe Proficiency as a skill- this gives you an additional 15% bonus- all together that is a 45% chance to hit each time.) wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/Category:Skills

I'm confused - other people seem to be able to identify the zombies they see, and say what level they are and stuff - is this some high level skill I don't have, or a bit of game mechanics I haven't worked out?

If you have player in your contact list you can identify him as a dead body or even in the mob of zombies. It is also possible to attack such zombie directly. I assume it as helpful for our revivers to be able to prioritize the zombies for revification.

When zombies attack or speak, basically anytime you screen says "A zombie...." you can click on the word zombie and view their profile. As others have stated, a DNA scan will show a zombies starting class. (Though characters who start as zombies will be shown as civilians.) Some zombies have more than 50HP, which means they have invested in the survivor skill Bodybuilding. This means they spent time as a survivor- either seriously, or worse just to collect skills like body building and diagnosis and items like flak jackets that help zombies. You can notice if a zombie has a flak jacket by the amount of damage done to it by firearms. (I thinks it's one dmage less than usual.)

I'm certainly no new player, but I have done very little science things and need some help. I was at Gaisford Cinema and found a zombie inside. I successfully scanned it on first attempt and got this message:
Name: Tobias Gregor Pre-death Class: Military Dead Since: unknown
Filed as #2663328/2 Your work is appreciated.
I assumed that this meant it didn't have Brainrot. Is that right? Because I then tried to revive it, but got this message:
Following standard procedures, you press the syringe into the back of the zombie's neck and pump the glittering serum into its brain and spinal cord.
The zombie's head lolls forward momentarily, and the LEDs along the sides of the disposable syringe flash red. Nothing happens. The brain must be damaged.
So I guess that means it was a rotter after all. How do you actually tell?

Sometimes you can sucessfully scan a zombie with brain rot though the chances are much slimmer than one without rot. That happened to me a few weeks ago to a zed at Ames plaza which kinda irked me but there's not much you can do about it save post their name and profile.

How do you find their profile?

I've only ever been able to find a zed profile by being attacked by one.

OK, I thought there might be something I was missing about DNA scanning. Thanks.
